HIPs Update
The government announced that with immediate effect on the 21st May 2010 the Home Information Pack (HIP) would no longer be required on any properties marketed for sale on or after that date.
The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) has been retained and all sellers are still required to commission the EPC but don’t need to have received it before marketing their property however the EPC must be in place before the sale of their home.
Keeping the EPC in place has been proven over the last 3 years to improve reducing household energy bill, improving awareness and plays a large part in our Energy Security and tackling Climate Change. The government are considering how the EPC can play a new part in the drive for a ‘Low Carbon’, ‘Eco Friendly’ economy.
